How a call from your loved one is forwarded to your personal device.
Phone A (Your loved one using the Bell payphone)
Phone B (Tunnel Out number)
Phone C (Your device, Bell, Fido, Chatr, Rogers, Verizon, Freedom Mobile…)
Phone A dials Phone B.
Phone B tells Phone A to dial Phone C instead.
Phone A dials Phone C.
Phone C accepts the call directly from Phone A.
Phone B’s has two purposes:
– act as a billing location for collect calls.
– to instruct Phone A to dial Phone C.
Why is this important to know?
Experiences with dropped calls, or call quality issues, are not associated with the Tunnel Out number as the call is only active between Phone A and Phone C.
Additional troubleshooting steps may be available if reports of interruptions occur on a large scale.
